If you can not figure out which screws that you need to remove, you should consult an engineer and ask them to tighten the hinges for you. The screws that hold the hinge covers should be near to the hinges on the rear of the laptop, but some models may have screws on the bottom, too. To remove this, unscrew any screws that may be holding it in place.

Some laptops have a plastic cover that hides the hinge mechanism. Tighten any screws that are on the hinge (B), and then replace the bezel by clicking it back into place, then replacing the screws and rubber plugs. If the hinge is now rigid, you can stop.Ĭlose the lid and turn it around so that the back is facing you. Now that the screen is open, you should be able to see the hinges at the bottom left and right-hand side of the screen. If you find yourself struggling to remove the plastic bezel, check that you have not missed any screws. It should not require much force to remove the bezel. The bezel is held in place by plastic clips. You should now be able to slide your fingernail down the outside seam of the lid, and pop the plastic front/bezel from around the outside of the screen (illustration A). Remove the screws and set them to one side, but pay attention to the length of the screws, and make a note of where each screw comes from. There should be screws underneath the rubber plugs. Pop the plugs out using a sharp knife, and put them to one side. There will probably be two plugs near to the hinges, and either two or four plugs at the top of the screen. You should see several rubber plugs in the corners of the lid.
